Avon: I Share The Fight & 130 Million Steps to Fight Breast Cancer

Saturday, October 15, 2016

Avon, the leading direct-selling company is known for supporting a number causes that matter most to women. Every October, they raise funds and awareness for breast cancer through their Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign.

Last 2014, I was able to attend the Avon Pink War where I learned the Dibdiban dance (read more about it here) and last year, I Shared the Fight Against Breast Cancer. Unlike the Pink War where we had a marathon and we were taught how to get ourselves checked through a dance, I Share the Fight Against Breast Cancer encouraged people to run and also walk side by side to raise awareness.
Together with the KGBC ambassadors, Jennylyn Mercado and Rocco Nacino, Linda Nacino--Rocco's mom and a breast cancer survivor--also joined the gathering. Over 20,000 participants gathered at SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds. Aside from the annual event, it was also held on a Sunday for the first time to commemorate 10 years of the Avon Walk in the Philippines.
See all the snippets of the event below:
“We thank God, our friends, our families and everyone who supported us during our difficult times. It feels great to do good to others, especially to those who are affected by breast cancer.” - Rocco Nacino
“Everyone can fall victim to breast cancer. The good news, however, is that everyone can take part and be of help in this journey.” - Emie Nierves, General Manager of Avon Philippines
“With early detection, sufficient awareness and the adequate support of committed parties, we are given the chance to successfully win this fight.” - Emie Nierves, General Manager of Avon Philippines
“I have found a deeper purpose in my role as an Avon Intimate Apparel ambassador. Beyond making women feel beautiful and confident with the Avon products, we want to send a message that we can beat breast cancer with the support of everyone.” - Jennylyn Mercado

This year, Avon challenged men and women to join a campaign that was never done before: to walk 130 Million Steps to Fight Breast Cancer. Sounds like an impossible goal, isn't it? But it will be with the Avon's newly launched 130 Million Step Pedometer App.
Everyone can join by just downloading the app to track your steps daily. Use it to set a goal and help by adding a contribution to the campaign. It's also connected on social media so you can share your steps on Facebook or Twitter to help encourage your friends to join.
Too bad I wasn't able to witness the app launch during the event this year but there are other ways to support the cause:

P20 from each shirt sold goes to the maintenance of facilities and support groups of the Avon-PGH Breast Care Center. You may also purchase any Avon Naturals Hand & Body Lotion from the October 1-31, 2016 Avon brochures, and a portion from each sale goes to the same beneficiary.
