Sue Lee & Audrey Lowe of Reese & Taylor
ME  Hi Sue! It is great to be interviewing you! I would love to know more about you and the brand. So first things first: what is Reese & Taylor all about?
SUE  Hi Arra! Thank you so much for doing an interview for us! My partner Audrey and I just recently started Reese & Taylor in the summer of 2012. Reese & Taylor is an online store that sells handmade jewelry. We also do a lot of customization for our customers, where we make a jewelry piece that is tailors toward their wants and needs.

What is behind the idea and inspiration of Reese & Taylor is that we notice a lot of jewelry stores out there that does not offer a whole lot of customization. There is a lack of market out there and we would love to change that!

ME  What is its goals?
SUE  Our goals are to offer our customers a variety of choices when it comes to their jewelry. We create and make jewelry that tailors toward their taste and style. We would also love to inspire girls and woman out there to try and make jewelry of their own, even if they have no clue on how to do that. We are also launching our FIRST Design Your Own (DYO) Reese & Taylor Jewelry kit by this month! We will be uploading videos and online tutorials monthly on how to create your own jewelry piece on our website. The kit will include materials to create that particular jewelry piece for the convenience of our customers. Our long term goal is to expand our jewelry kit idea and jewelry line. We would love to offer trendy, yet affordable items to our customers, either through making it on their own or purchasing directly through us.

ME  That's great! I am looking forward to your videos and DYO jewelry kit. Who or what inspired you to start this business?
SUE  Honestly, what has really inspired us to start this business is wanting to change the current market out there in regards to jewelry. Audrey and I realized customization is very rare out there and we want to change that.

ME  As a shop owner and an artist, what is your daily routine?
SUE  Well, my partner and I currently work full time at our day jobs and over the weekend and nights is when we work on Reese & Taylor. We always come up with the ideas first, and do a market trend report before we start designing any of our jewelry items. We then shop for the materials and make them right out of our homes!

ME  Tell us the work environment you have.
SUE  The working environment is very relaxing and soothing because this is something we both really enjoy doing. Reese and Taylor is our passion and everything that we have put into it since day one comes from our hearts. We are never stressed because this is our business and we make all of the decisions together. It's actually a very fun environment to be working in because we get to make the call on everything!

ME  Out of curiosity, what is the story behind the name of your shop?
SUE  The story behind our shop is that two childhood best friends who have kept in touch all of these years have a passion and love for jewelry and accessories. We love to design and create unique, trendy pieces for others and they are what keeps us going. :)

ME  Aww. That is really sweet and a great way to strengthen the bond of your friendship. So what makes your products unique? Where do you get your inspiration for the designs? Does the current trends influence your designs too? How do you keep it interesting?
SUE  Our products are all customized and handmade. We create the look that our customers want and that is what makes us different. We get our inspiration for the designs from market trend reports, magazines, and online!

ME  Do you have a new line that we can look forward to?
SUE  Yes! We create a new line every season so be sure to look out for it!
(Just to show you, here is their collection last year.)

ME  Do you have an actual shop that people can visit? If yes, where is it located? If not, do you plan on having one?
SUE  We do not have an actual physical shop, but an online one. We are currently selling on our etsy site here:
We also have our items sold at boutique shops in Montclair, New Jersey as well as holding expos in New York City.

ME  Let's move on to a more personal note! Do you have a personal blog? If yes, what is it about?
SUE  No, we do not have a personal blog, but we use our site as one, for business and pleasure!

ME  How do you define your personal style?
SUE  I am more of a conservative while Audrey is more trendy and funky.

ME  Style staples that you consider your must-haves?
SUE  Heels, scarves, purses and accessories! They always dress up any outfit you are wearing!

ME  Current trends that you are obsessed about?
SUE  Yes, the hot neon colors! They make a dull outfit pop.
ME  A personal top pick from your shop and how will you wear or style it?
SUE  Right now, our favorite is the Rhinestone Collar Necklace from our holiday collection! You can wear it with a dress, a dress shirt, skirts, anything to make you look fashionable yet trendy!

ME  What's in your bag?
SUE  In our bags, we always carry one thing in common, lipstick and gloss! If needed to be, lipstick can brighten your face in a sec once applied.

ME  Any current reads? All-time favorites?
SUE  We love reading fashion magazines such as Lucky, Allure, Elle. Our all time favorites to read is entrepreneurial books because sometimes, success is everything!

ME  Thank you so much Sue for allowing me to interview you and sharing this piece to the world. More power to the shop!
