Interview with Charlotte Russell of The Vintage Set + Giveaway (CLOSED) ♥

Thursday, July 19, 2012

ME  Hi Charlotte! Before anything else, I would like to thank you for allowing me to interview you to get to know more about your shop and you personally. First things first: What is The Vintage Set all about?
CHARLOTTE  The Vintage Set launched in March of this year so it is a very new company! We strive to be your number one stop to shop on trend vintage fashion! Each product is hand picked from around the globe to make sure our customers land the finest quality when buying vintage. Our garments are fairly priced and we are confident we have something for any budget – vintage shouldn’t cost you the earth!

ME  What is the main goal of your shop?
CHARLOTTE  The main goal for our shop is to provide fab vintage which is on trend and can be mixed with other items in your closet and can suit any budget!

ME  What or who inspired you to start the business?
CHARLOTTE  The company was simply inspired by a huge love for vintage! I wanted to create a place you can shop for quality vintage 24/7 - I often found it hard to come across great vintage and was having to travel to find it! This is what is great about buying vintage on the website you can shop anytime of the day!

ME  An interesting thought, I would like to know the story behind the name of your shop. Share to us how you came up with it.
CHARLOTTE  The Vintage Set name was the first I came up with – it is a name which embraces the customer to be part of something - each customer is part of The Vintage Set.

ME  Just curious, what is the daily routine for a shop owner?
CHARLOTTE  My typical daily routine is wake up and reply to emails, then package any new orders and take them out to post. I then spend the rest of my day sourcing new vintage products, loading them on to the website and marketing the company.

ME  Tell us the work environment you have.
CHARLOTTE  I work from home and have a studio which is packed of vintage!

ME  What kind of vintage pieces do you sell? How do you keep up to the latest trends?
CHARLOTTE  Our vintage products span from 1920 – 1980 and we also have for sale rework vintage items. Each product is on trend making it work with other garments from your closet - and you are certain to stand out wearing vintage! To stay in date with trends lots of reading is done from mags and blogs – we notice trends are not just from the catwalk but are made by real girls who enjoy playing around with fashion!

ME  Let's move on to a more personal note. Do you have your own style blog?
CHARLOTTE  I am in the early stages of developing my own blog which I hope to launch later in September. I have wanted to do it for a long time and have just got round to it! I have the name and I hope to share my views on style,   fashion and beauty - and my own closet!

ME  How do you define your style?
CHARLOTTE  I would define my style as relax glam – I like to be comfy and team by fave jeans or simple frocks with a stand out garment! I always have a hint of glam in my outfit and my signature is pearl studs and red lips! I have lots of style icons I draw from both past and modern day. Audrey and Marilyn are the ultimate vintage style icons for me - they just are style! Today so many women in the public eye have great style it is hard to pick just one! I do love Alexa Chung she nails it in each outfit!

ME  What are the vintage pieces you have in your closet? Which one is your favorite?
CHARLOTTE  I have lots of vintage in my closet which has built up over time! I love vintage bags and have some great leather ones I can’t part with! I also have lots of animal print tops which I love to pair with my black ankle grazer jeans! My favourite piece has to be a vintage liberty scarf my grandmother gave to me – she has given me lots of vintage over the past few years and I love to raid her closet!

ME  Current trends you are obsessed about?
CHARLOTTE  Trends I can’t wait for this Autumn Winter – it has to be the 1960’s! I love the sixties siren look it is so glam from the clothing to beauty styling! We have begun buying for A/W so expect some fab new products to drop late September!

ME  4 top picks from your shop and how would you, personally, style them?
I love this bag it is the ultimate satchel! I would team this with a simple white shirt and  blue ankle grazer jeans. I would throw on a striped blazer and red lips to complete this look!

Honey - £16
This blouse is such a great shade of lemon and would be great tucked into blue denim. I would team them with waist jeans and some tan flats!

Audrey - £24
This is my fave find so far – a black and white crop jacket which I would team with a simple black outfit to let the jacket do the talking – it would be great for day or night!

Wildfire - £16
This fab pair of coral denim waist shorts are such a find! I would take them on holiday and team with a white knot shirt to channel the 1950’s and some white frames!

ME  Just random: Harry Potter or Twilight?
CHARLOTTE  How can you ask me to pick just one! I think I would have to go with Harry Potter – it is a story I grew up with and I just love the whole other world it created!

ME  Thank you so much for your time Charlotte and we're looking forward to see more of your shop! More power!
